Top 10 Highest Paid Actors 2017 News

The movie Industry is one well-oiled machine; one of the most important pieces for the puzzle to make sense, is the actors. We have a lot of actors working nowadays, veterans and rising stars, and some of these celebrities are offered a buck load of money for their roles. The following list is comprised of the highest paid actors, from June 2016 to June 2017, according to Forbes. I will provide my take on the subject along the way. Alright, let’s see who we got!

10. Akshay Kumar, $35.5 million
Kicking off the list we have a Bollywood actor! Akshay keeps himself busy, producing and starring in 4 films a year.

9. Salman Khan, $37 million

On number 9, we have yet another Bollywood actor, known for his work in Sultan. Salman is one of India’s biggest stars.

8. Shah Rukh Khan, $38 million

Third time’s the charm! Here, Shah Khan reinforces his status as the king of Bollywood. His numbers also come from a couple of publicity deals.

7. Tom Cruise, $43 million

The running man himself even at 55 years old, manages to pull impressive numbers thanks to the Mission Impossible franchise and The Mummy. Always wanting to perform his own stunts, he recently injured himself while jumping off a building. This is a characteristic that makes him a valuable actor to have on set, adding authenticity to the films.

6. Robert Downey Jr., $48 million

The Marvel super hero star, Iron Man, remains on top after appearing as a father figure to Tom Holland´s Spider-Man Homecoming, this year. Robert will soon be facing war of infinite proportions in 2018’s Avengers Infinity War, ending this colossal character arc.

5. Jackie Chan, $49 million

Although not appearing in as much Hollywood movies as he used to, Jackie Chan still undeniably remains as an influential cinematic figure. He is now focused on starring and producing films in China, his home country.

4. Adam Sandler, $50.5 million

His work on the field of comedy persists to this day. Adam Sandler manages to appear at number 4 thanks to his amazing deal with Netflix. The popular streaming service offered him a $250 million budget, in order to make 4 original films. His first one, The Ridiculous Six is already available to watch.

3. Vin Diesel, $54.5 million

The Fast and the Furious star provides enough tire-burning action to justify this third place. However, Diesel also appears in Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2, voicing everyone’s favourite tree, Baby Groot. He is currently working on Avengers Infinity War, which recently entered post production.

2. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, $65 million

Former wrestler turned action movie star, Dwayne Johnson is known for his work alongside Vin Diesel in the Fast and the Furious franchise. His most recent summer film, Baywatch, is still in theaters and you can expect to see him next in Jumanji.

1. Mark Wahlberg, $68 million

Here he is, the King of the Hill! Over the year, Mark managed to score earth shattering fees from Oscar nominated venture Deepwater Horizon and Transformers: The Last Knight. Also contributing to this first rank is Shooter, a Netflix original series in which Wahlberg serves as an executive producer. His next project is Daddy’s Home 2, arriving in November, later this year.

And there you have it folks! Just to put these figures into perspective, if you add up all their earnings you end up with $488,5 million! It will be interesting to see how this list shifts and changes next year.
