Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018) Movie Review

Image
Official Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom Poster Taking place four years after the events of 2015’s Jurassic World, Fallen Kingdom kicks off its 128 minutes of runtime in energetic fashion. After a prologue type opening with a mission to retrieve Indominus Rex’s DNA from the depths of the sea, the big baddie from the last film, we realize that a once dormant volcano is now on the verge of heating things up, no pun intended. As a result, the dinosaurs are facing an extinction level event once again.  A T-Rex roaring as the volcano erupts Is it irony? Is nature simply correcting the course? Did scientists cross a border that was not meant to be traversed in the first place? Are human beings too arrogant that they did not realize they were playing God? Do dinosaurs deserve the same status and protection as the other species walking on Earth today? These are all some thought-provoking questions, without a doubt. It is a shame, however, the apathetic way chosen to treat the ma

Avengers Infinity War (2018) Movie Review

Image
Official Avengers Infinity War Poster Ever since a certain genius billionaire playboy philanthropist built a suit of armor with nothing but a box of scraps, nothing’s been the same. In 2008, ‘Iron Man’ premiered and with it, the Marvel Cinematic Universe had just exploded into existence. A few films later and we already have an established team of super heroes, in the form of the colossal hit that was 2012’s ‘The Avengers’. Soon, the cosmic branch of this juggernaut of a shared universe started to expand, making a talking raccoon and a walking tree some of the world’s most popular characters via 2014’s ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’. Still of Wong, Cumberbatch, Ruffalo and Downey Jr. looking rather suspicious Flash forward to 2018. 10 years in the making, ‘Avengers Infinity War’ blasts its way into theatres and fans around the world are drooling over this unprecedented cinematic event. Ready Player One (2018) Movie Review

Image
Official RPO Poster Directed by Steven Spielberg , Ready Player One is a film that results from the adaptation of the hit novel written by Ernest Cline , to the silver screen. For me, one crucial aspect in order to be able to appreciate an adaptation, no matter how long or dense the source material is, is to understand what an adaptation actually is and what it sets out to accomplish. It is not a carbon copy of the book, nor it is a completely different work of art; there’s a fine line between the amount of differences from the novel and the quantity of changes implemented and that is precisely the spot where an adaptation operates.  Welcome to the OASIS Therefore, going into this movie I was expecting to see a hybrid of Cline’s narrative coupled with Spielberg ’s outstanding vision for what Ready Player One could be, once translated to the cinematic format. The movie follows the story of Wade Watts, a young man who is dedicating all of his free time on the ad

Black Panther (2018) Movie Review

Image
Official Black Panther Poster ‘Black Panther’ is the latest addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with it being the 18 th film in the span of 10 years. Following the events of 2016´s ‘Captain America Civil War’, where the title character was first introduced, we see T’Challa ( Chadwick Boseman reprising his role here) returning to Wakanda and embracing his duties as the new king of the secretive and technologically advanced nation. If you think Tony Stark and his suits of armor are as good as it gets in terms of tech savviness, make no mistake: Wakanda has more to it than textiles and shepherds (Pssst, it has to do with Vibranium *wink*). A sample of the incredible visuals 'Black Panther' has The movie is helmed by Ryan Coogler , who had previously directed the critically acclaimed Creed, for instance, and the film is a beast, in a good way. It is inspiring and irreverent, managing to create a subgenre within the existing plethora of superhero outin

The Greatest Showman (2017) Movie Review

Image
Official TGS poster The Greatest Showman is a full-fledged musical, filled with splashes of color and bursts of joy, consistently spread throughout the film. The movie follows the journey of P.T. Barnum, a resilient human being who founded the concept of circus, and is credited as the creator of the show business itself. Having been born in a poor family, young Barnum had always craved for something exciting; working in a bank all day and typing stuff was definitely not what he was meant to be. This is precisely what his wife tells him when he arrives home, sharing the news that he was let go for bankrupt issues. This triggers a compelling chain of events, toppled by some inspiring moments with his children. And from these genuine and heartfelt moments, Barnum gained the required strength and impetus to create what every man intends to leave behind, after the dust settles: a legacy. Still of Zac Efron and Hugh Jackman  The film is inspired by true events, even tho
