The movie Industry is one well-oiled machine; one of the most important pieces for the puzzle to make sense, is the actors. We have a lot of actors working nowadays, veterans and rising stars, and some of these celebrities are offered a buck load of money for their roles. Akshay Kumar, $35.5 million Kicking off the list we have a Bollywood actor! Akshay keeps himself busy, producing and starring in 4 films a year. 9. The Hitman's Bodyguard (2017) Movie Review

Image
Official Hitman's Bodyguard Poster Directed by Patrick Hughes (The Expendables 3), the film is classic summer popcorn fun. From the trailers, you can instantly realize the route the filmmakers were going for with The Hitman’s Bodyguard. The movie’s premise was to deliver action packed sequences infused with genuinely funny moments; and it accomplishes just that. Hitman's Bodyguard Official Promotional Banner The weight of the film is carried on the main duo’s shoulders: Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson . They make somewhat of an odd pairing, but the way their distinct personalities clash and the interactions that result from their differences produce contagious laughs across the theater. Ryan plays Michael Bryce, a triple A rated bodyguard, who appreciates having time for careful planning. On the other hand, Sam Jackson is Darrius Kincaid, the world’s deadliest hitman who prefers careless improvisation over cautious preparation. Nothing can go wrong, rig...

Liebster Awards 2017 Blogging Editorial

Image
Liebster Awards 2017 Logo Hello everyone. Today I bring you a different kind of post. It is more of an announcement, actually. I am proud to disclose that our blog, www.flickscreenreviews.blogspot.com , has been nominated for the Liebster Awards 2017! It is a virtual award, whose purpose is to encourage bloggers and to reward quality content.   We had this privilege thanks to fellow bloggers Komal Karnani and Trisha Morton. Komal, with her blog over at www.zistboon.com , writes about the journeys of self-discovery and shares motivational stories. On the other hand, Trisha, in her blog www.sparklesofyum.com , presents us with a vast compilation of recipes, ranging from main dishes to desserts! Before I reveal the blogs I have picked, I would like to share with everyone a little bit of my (small) journey as a blogger. For as long as I can remember, movies have been a part of my life. There is nothing like experiencing a film on the silver screen; this activity started ...

The Dark Tower (2017) Movie Review

Image
Official The Dark Tower Poster The Dark Tower is an adaptation of Stephen King ’s vast work. The series is comprised of eight different novels, each with an individual narrative that, when combined, create a complex overarching story. After watching the movie, it is not possible to identify the main book that was put on film; this is due to the fact that The Dark Tower is not an adaptation of a single book but rather a tangled amalgamation of all the previously mentioned novels. With such an extensive lore established and the quality of the world-building King has shown in his written work, it is a shame that the film never delves deeply into this aspects. Alternative "Upside Down" The Dark Tower Poster We are introduced to some magical concepts but they are never fully explored. Instead, we have a very fast paced film sprinkled with snippets of backstory and two or three lines of expositional dialogue. In my opinion, the filmmakers made a couple of odd choices...

Atomic Blonde (2017) Movie Review

Image
Official Atomic Blonde Néon Poster The year is 1989 and Germany is going through intense times; the Berlin wall’s fall is imminent and riots between citizens and police forces are common. Oh, did I forget to mention the political layers of interest, working in the background, underneath the rubble of this uneasy situation? I did? Fine, let me track this from the beginning… Alternative Atomic Blonde Noir Poster Atomic Blonde is a complex movie, perhaps a little too smart for its own good, forged by David Leitch (who previously co-directed John Wick). It is an amazingly shot movie, highly stylized and polished. The soundtrack, filled with classic hits from the 80s, helps to reinforce this groovy aspect of the film. It is vibrant and the costume design was spot on. In its simplest form, this is a spy movie in which Charlize Theron ’s character has a buck load of fight scenes and everyone is after a list containing the names of special agents’ true identities (familiar plo...

Baby Driver (2017) Movie Review

Image
Official Baby Driver Poster Ingeniously created from scratch by Edgar Wright (he was credited as both writer and director), Baby Driver is nonstop fun, from start to finish. The movie is fueled by some very interesting song choices, making the film a music driven one. Baby, played by Ansel Elgort , is our main character and he is partially deaf. Troubled by his past, Baby struggles in his present and every action he takes in this motion picture is with a clear objective in mind: to improve his future.     He is the best getaway driver ever conceived (music and sunglasses are crucial to his performance) and pulls unbelievable car stunts, while working for some shady figures. Still of Ansel Elgort, Jamie Foxx, Eiza González and Jon Hamm in Baby Driver The movie features a couple of heist scenes, followed by high octane driving with tire-burning drifts along the way. Seriously, the car chase sequences are some of the best ever put on film; it just plays so s...
